摘要
A systematic procedure has been developed for process unit design based on the "worst case" combination of physical property values and other process variables that are bounded within uncertainty limits. This new procedure has been implemented using Polymath T and MATLAB (R) for the design of a heat exchanger and tubular reactor. It is shown that there is no simple relationship between the magnitude of the uncertainties and the overdesign needed; thus the use of the systematic procedure is recommended.
