摘要
The paper considers direct numerical simulations of liquid metal heat transfer affected by strong external forces. The impact of buoyancy force and longitudinal magnetic field on the flow pattern and heat transfer in a horizontal uniformly heated pipe is studied. The longitudinal magnetic field leads to flow laminarization, and at the same time the possibility of existence of secondary flows with their axes directed along the pipe remains. In the paper, results of the full solution reproducing in detail the flow pattern are presented. Numerical solutions are processed into friction factors, average and local Nusselt numbers, average and fluctuating fields of velocity and temperature. Results of the numerical simulation are verified by available experimental data. Conclusions on the features of the magnetic field impact on the flow pattern under these conditions are made basing on the experimental data and insights available from numerical simulations.
