Design of a Dual-Band Planar Monopole Antenna for WLAN Applications

摘要
In this paper, we design a folded monopole antenna with microstrip feeding system and defected ground structure (DGS) for WLAN applications. The antenna is printed on the top side while ground plane is etched on the bottom side of the low-cost FR-4 substrate. The parameters of a monopole antenna and a ground plane are optimized to achieve passband at 2.4 GHz band and 5 GHz band of WLAN. The simulated results show that he antenna has-10dB bandwidth of 1.08 GHz (1.92 similar to 3 GHz) at lower hand and 1.2 GHz (4.85 similar to 6.05 GHz) at upper band of WLAN systems. In addition, the antenna has a stable radiation patterns at all desired frequencies.
