In this paper we present a fast and accurate numerical scheme for the solution of a system of fourth-order boundary value problems associated with obstacle, unilateral and contact problems. The decomposition method and a modified form of this method are applied to construct the numerical solutions. The new approach provides the solution in the form of a rapidly convergent series with easily computable components and not at grid points. The scheme is tested on two problems. The results demonstrate reliability and efficiency of the algorithm developed. (c) 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
