摘要
By its nature, rail system is a complex system, composed of polyvalent processes and activities, which takes place continuously, covering a significant geographic network and which brings together a large volume of human, financial and material resources, within which many unanticipated events can often occur. Freight and passenger transport involves finding and using a high performance solution for organizing train traffic, a fact that can be achieved by effective use of information technology. Information technology is an important pillar in the development of society in all points of view, being increasingly used in all components of the society. Information technology is distinguished by the fact that it is an area in full expansion, closely related to the development of technological devices, which comes to support companies, being really helpful for a better understanding and management of business and processes which unfolds within it. This fact supports increasing company performance and the development both on the short term and on medium and long term. The paper aims to analyze the impact of information technology on train traffic through the data collection and storage, their processing by using information systems and obtaining information necessary for organizing railroad transport. The paper prioritizes the structure and management of Romanian freight and passenger rail traffic pursuing the choosing of guidance routes of the wagons, the train composition and the optimization of plans composition.
