Microwave assisted synthesis of some 6-chloro-3-[2-(substituted anilino)-1,3-thiazol-4-yl]-2H-1-benzopyran-2-ones as antibacterial agents

A series of some 6-chloro-3-[2-(substituted anilino)-1,3-thiazol-4-yl]-2H-1-benzopyran2-ones were synthesized and characterized on the basis of IR, (1)H NMR, (13)C NMR and mass spectral (MS) data. The title compounds were subjected to in-vitro antibacterial activity sereening using four strains of organisms viz. Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Klebshella pneumoniae by agar cup plate method. Out of the compounds tested, some of the molecules with different substituents showed significant antibacterial activity when compared to standard Streptomycin and Ampicillin.
