Pyoderma gangrenosum-a systemic disease?

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an orphan disease. It belongs to the group of neutrophilic dermatoses. Four major subtypes and several rare manifestations illustrate the great variety of clinical presentations and clinical course. PG is potentially life threatening and associated with a number of internal diseases including chronic inflammatory bowel disease, hematologic disorders, and malignancies. PG itself shows extracutaneous manifestations. These findings are in favor of PG as a systemic disease. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
