摘要：

This paper aims to develop an approach to sustainable development in the coal mining field in Romania starting from the overall objective, namely, to identify the optimum interaction of four systems: economic, human, environmental and technological, in a dynamic and flexible operation. Sustainable development in coal mining field involves the production in terms of economic efficiency of the coal necessary to ensure the country's energy independence simultaneous with resource conservation, ensuring environmental quality and of social security. In this paper will be addressed two of the components of sustainable development in this important area of activity, namely: conserving resources and ensuring of economic growth; elimination of poverty and ensuring conditions to satisfy the essential needs of work and personal life.
