A Single-Layer Thin Partially Reflecting Surface for Tri-Band Directivity Enhancement

摘要
A method is described in this paper to design a tri-band electromagnetic band gap (EBG) resonator antenna by engineering the reflection phase characteristics of a thin partially reflecting surface (PRS). The proposed PRS consists of periodic arrays of printed dipoles on both sides of a 1.6mm-thick RT/Duroid 5880 dielectric substrate. The profile of the reflection phase curve of the PRS helps to satisfy the necessary conditions for directivity enhancement at three distinct frequency bands. Computed radiation patterns confirm the directivity enhancement and operation of the proposed tri-band EBG resonator antenna.
