Samples of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr1.8Ba0.2Ca2Cu3-xNix O10+delta were prepared by solid-state reaction methods. Mechanical properties (Vickers microhardness, Young modulus, yield strength, fracture toughness and surface energy) by Vickers microhardness measurements have been carried out to examine the effects of Ni substitution. The results showed a deterioration of the mechanical properties with the enhancement of Ni content.
