Docetaxel/cisplatin.: A palliative therapy concept in advanced gastric cancer

Between 1/97 to 10/98 43 patients (pts.)- 30 male and 13 female - with advanced or metastatic gastric cancer (median age of 62.4 (39-75) years) were enrolled in our study. The study finished 39 pts. according to protocol. After application from Docetaxel 75 mg/sqm and Cisplatin 75 mg/sqm we saw 4 CR (10,3%), 12 PR (30,8%), 1 MR (2,5%), 10 SD (25,5%) und 12 P (30,8%). The ORR was 17/39 (43.6%). The median survival time was 12.5 months and the median time to progression 5,8 months. These results show, that the combination of Docetaxel and Cisplatin is a high effective polychemotherapy regarding RR and median survival time. The protocoll could also be proofen as a neoadjuvant concept.
