摘要
A good distribution of fillers and elastomers in a compound is a challenging task, as these components greatly differ in polarity. One possibility to overcome the polarity differences between fillers and polymers is to adjust the surface properties of the filler by plasma polymerization: A proper choice of the monomer and the process parameters allows adjusting the surface energy and chemistry without changing the bulk properties. The utilisation of plasma-coated silica improves homogeneity, processing and properties of the filled compounds.
