Strangeness production in the meson cloud model

We have applied the meson cloud model to calculate the momentum distribution of kaons and Lambda's produced in high-energy proton-proton collisions. We show that it is possible to obtain a good description of data, especially the large x(F) (x(F) greater than or equal to 0.2) part of the spectrum. As expected we underpredict the low x(F) part of the curves, where central production mechanisms (fireballs, strings, etc.) are expected to play an important role.
