Patients with liver diseases are in the high risk anaesthesiology category. Changes in circulation. the intrapulmonal shunt fraction and the altered dug metabolism must be considered when the anaesthetic method is chosen. In our study 102 patients with liver disorders undergoing abdominal surgery were investigated in 4 groups. The applied volatile anaesthetics were isofurane (n=30) or sevoflurane (n=12). The intravenous drugs were midazolam (n=30) and propofol (n=30;). In liver diseases. the intravenous midazolam or propofol anaesthesia as well as inhaled isoflurane or sevoflurane anaesthesia are convenient. The changes of liver function during and after propofol. midazolam. isoflurane and sevoflurane anaesthesia depend on the types of liver disorders and the performed operations.
