Effect of microwave curing on easy care finishing of cotton using glyoxal/glycol

摘要
An alternative approach was used for curing glyoxal/glycol treated cotton fabric to impart a crease resistant finish. Low microwave power (200 W) with a 1 min curing time was sufficient to impart a high crease recovery property to the fabric. Comparisons were made for conventional and microwave cured cotton fabric treated with glyoxal/glycol. Crosslinking efficiency in conventional and microwave cured samples were evaluated on the basis of crease recovery angle and tensile and tearing strength. Conventionally cured samples showed a higher degree of crosslinking than microwave cured samples. FIR and TGA results also supported the higher degree of crosslinking that occurred in conventional curing.
