Analysis of Exploitation Indicators in Passenger Railway Transport in Sisak-Moslavina County

Railway passenger transport in developed areas shoulders the load of public passenger transport with constant investments in improvements to the existing transport service. Not investing in railway infrastructure, the reduction of the quality of transport service, and a decrease in the number of local trains have all resulted in lower transport demand in railway transport and cancellation of existing services. Less developed areas are first to experience such consequences which soon spread to other areas. This paper has analysed exploitation indicators of railway passenger transport in the Sisak-Moslavina County - one of the least developed counties of the Republic of Croatia. Commercial train speeds, average journey times, and the number of trains in passenger transport were analysed for the 1990-2015 period. The paper aims to establish trends in passenger transport in the county. (C) 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
