Effects of heat treatment on the structure and properties of 99.5Ge(23)Se(67)Sb(10)-0.5CsCl glass were investigated by using SEM, XRD, FTIR and Vickers hardness tester. It's found that the temperature of heat treatment is the key factor on the properties of glass. If the treatment temperature, T < 583 K, the treatment time influence the structures and properties slightly, whereas, if T > 583 K, the effect will be significant as the treatment time increasing. The treatment process was optimized as 563 K/40 h, with which the glass keeps a high transmission (>60%), while, the Vickers hardness, reaching to 2172.28 Mpa, increases about 20% compared with that of original glass.
