Experimental validation of asymptotic theories to study interfacial solitary waves

摘要：
Solitary interfacial waves were obtained in a two-fluid system. We compare our experimental data with analytical and numerical calculations. It is shown that the KdV theory asymptotically describes long waves of small amplitude whereas KdV-mKdV theory fits waves of large amplitude.
