摘要
In this paper, we propose a packet loss differentiation scheme using wireless signal strength for TCP-Friendly rate control (TFRC) of multimedia data in mobile networks. Mobile network has more factors incurring packet losses and service disruption, such as wireless link error and host mobility as well as the network congestion. When- the packet losses occur due to host mobility or wireless link error, conventional congestion control schemes may reduce the transmission rate unnecessarily even though there are plenty of resources in the networks. Our scheme discriminates the wireless link error and host mobility from the network congestion. We examined the effectiveness of our scheme by measuring transmission rate and comparing it with the conventional TFRC. The result shows that our scheme provides the appropriate rate control corresponding to each of the quality degradation factors in mobile networks.
