Analysis of Scientific Reasoning Ability of Prospective Biology Teacher Students in the Course of Plant Development Structure

摘要
Scientific reasoning abilities are abilities needed by students in studying Biology. Scientific reasoning abilities are needed by students to improve cognitive abilities in learning. The purpose of this study is to explore the scientific reasoning abilities of Biology students at Universitas Negeri Malang. The sample of this study were 37 students, 2018 class at the Department of Biology, Universitas Negeri Malang. The research type is analytical research using quantitative descriptive approaches. Data collection techniques used are essay tests of scientific reasoning ability for students. The students' preliminary ability was found in very less and less category. The category less Indicator one was choosing an argument topic with an average score of 21.62 and indicator two is knowledge in choosing an average topic score of 20.27. There was a very little category in indicator 3, which is a methodology with an average score of 13.3, indicator 4, which is to analyze with an average score of 5.4, and indicator 5, which makes conclusions with an average score of 11.0. The next step of research is finding the right solution to be able to accommodate the improvement of scientific reasoning abilities in learning Biology.
