Partial rupture of the tendon of the biceps brachial muscle

A partial rupture of the tendon of the biceps brachial muscle was associated with bicipital tenosynovitis. A four-year old Rottweiler presented with chronic lameness of several weeks duration that did not respond to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory treatment. Clinical examination revealed a moderate lameness of the left forelimb at rest, which worsened with exercise. Flexion of the joint revealed medial instability and pain on pressure-palpation of the tendon of the biceps brachial muscle. An avulsion of the tendon in the proximal region was revealed on plain radiographs. The definitive diagnosis of partial rupture of the tendon associated with tenosynovitis was established using arthroscopy.
