摘要
A field study was conducted at a wood-treating plant in Arkansas to evaluate the effectiveness of ex-situ landfarming creosote-contaminated soil. Polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) had been detected in surface soil and required remedial action. Two test cells were constructed to test landfarming on soil from the area of concern. initial soil concentrations in the cells averaged approximately 1,300 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg). Soil was augmented with chicken manure and exogenous microorganisms. The study showed that up to 80.8% of PAH concentrations were removed by this method, and site remediation levels could be attained compared to tilling and irrigation alone. These results have been used to remediate contaminated surface soil at the site.
