摘要
Recently, a modular multilevel converter (MMC) topology with six branches arranged in a double-Pi configuration was proposed for direct dc-dc conversion. As a complementary application, this paper explores the same MMC topology for direct ac-ac conversion. By redefining the input and output terminals, a new circuit interface is achieved which enables direct ac-ac conversion from three-phase to single-phase and vice versa. The circuit's dynamic features are analyzed in the direct ac-ac conversion context, and the related control issues are discussed. The capability of this MMC for direct ac-ac conversion is validated by the simulation results.
