The article examines the impact of foreign investment in the form of official development assistance and direct investment on Vietnam's economic growth. The objective of the research is to assess the impact of foreign investment on the Vietnamese economy during the period from 1991 to 2017. Based on an analysis of data characterizing Vietnam's economic development, the dynamics and trends of foreign investment are analyzed. Using the basic methods of statistical analysis, the role of official development assistance and foreign direct investment in increasing Vietnam's GDP is estimated. The positive and negative aspects associated with the strong dependence of the country's economic development on foreign investment are identified. Recommendations are formulated on the state investment attraction policy formation.
