摘要
Grate-shape minute periodic structures can be formed on various kinds of materials using linearly polarized femtosecond laser pulses with low fluence that is slightly above the ablation threshold. The spacing of the periodic structures is about the same as the laser wavelength. Performing overlapped scanning of the laser beam allows forming the periodic structures over an extended area. Scratch test and pin-on-disk test were performed to investigate the influence of the periodic structures on adhesiveness of diamond-like carbon (DLC) film to stainless steel, tool steel and sintered tungsten carbide. It was found that the periodic structures showed remarkable effect on improving adhesion between DLC film and its metal substrates.
