In recent years, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have emerged as a new computing paradigm in which tiny Sensor Nodes (SNs) can be deployed at various geographical locations for data aggregation and dissemination. As WSNs consist of number of small SNs which are limited in terms of power, so energy efficiency is a key issue for any operation in WSNs. Clustering and data dissemination has been widely used for saving the energy of SNs in WSNS and many prominent protocols have been reported in the literature. But existing proposals are lacking in exploiting the SNs heterogeneity with respect to various parameters. Keeping in the view, in this paper, we have proposed an Advanced Energy Efficient Heterogeneous Data Dissemination (AEEHDD) protocol for WSNs. We have used the concept of heterogeneous SNs which are having different energy levels. Our approach is different from the other traditional approaches reported in the literature in the sense that we have also considered the mobility of the Base Station (BS). In the proposed approach, we have estimated both the direction of motion of BS and density of SNs in a geographical location. A mathematical analysis is provided for estimation of both these factors. For the lifetime measurement of network field, we have used First Node Die (FND) and Last Node Alive (LNA) as two important performance metrics. The results obtained show that the proposed AEEHDD performs better than the other algorithms of its category with respect to the above performance metrics.
