摘要
Steel plants are widely operated in the industrial power system; meanwhile, AC electric arc furnace is a major operation facility that with nonlinear characteristic and causes many power quality problems. Voltage instability due to the violated change on reactive power is paid more concern by utilities and customers. In general, most steel plants may install the reactive power compensation equipment, such as STATCOM or SVC, to mitigate these voltage problems. This study thus aims to design a widely installed PV system form as STATCOM, i.e. PV-STATCOM for the mitigation of voltage fluctuation in a steel plant feeder. Performance of proposed PV-STATCOM design is tested and verified by MATLAB/Simulink simulations.
