Experimental Analysis on Driver Response to Parking Guidance and Information System

A methodology of providing information for efficient use of traffic facilities has not established yet because driver response to information has not well been analyzed. In this study, we will aim to analyze driver response to information provided by PGI system. We conducted a repeated car park choice experiment by using a personal computer. Three types of experiments, without information, with availability information and with waiting time information, are conducted. By using data got from the experiment, we investigate the effect of information and check the assumption of car park choice behavior. Firstly, by the aggregation analysis, it is found that introducing PGI system is efficient both road managers and drivers. Secondly, a car park choice model is estimated. From the estimation result, walking time and average waiting time experienced affect drivers car park choice. Also previous information that driver got affects drivers car park choice.
