We propose a method for on-the-fly time mapping of the full spectrogram of an arbitrary continuous-time waveform. This method is here applied to observe the complex-field spectral dynamics evolution of an electro-optic phase modulation process with a frequency resolution of similar to 425 MHz and at a GHz analysis speed
