摘要：

IMEKO with its 40-year history cannot be isolated from the tremendous storms and changes of the social system of the world. The paper gives a short summary of the past, shows the optimistic unfolding of the present and leads us to the information age of the future. By help of an example it illustrates how Internet facilitates the work of future conference organisers.
