摘要
The aim of this study was to check the quality of antibiotic prescribing for perioperative prophylaxis in Obstetrics and Gynecology. and to trace out changes that must be made to improve it. 7 Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 5 European countries participated in the study. The participating countries were: Greece. Serbia. Croatia. Hungary and Italy, The conformance to the guidelines and the quality of antibiotic prescribing for perioperative prophylaxis were checked by use of the same detailed questionnaire in each country. The quality of antibiotic prescribing for perioperative prophylaxis was not satisfactory. The most common errors were prolongation of prophylaxis for more than 24 hours and the use of 3rd generation cephalosporins, amikacin and netilmicin, A coordinated European action is required in order to improve the quality and establish a successful and evidence-based perioperative prophylaxis in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
