摘要
Designers must integrate perceptual components from various vendors to develop context-aware applications in smart spaces. IBM's integration tool SitCom and middleware bridge CHILix facilitate integrated development of smart space applications. The development process is challenging for all stakeholders, technology providers, service developers, and context-modeling experts. Technology providers can benefit from an emulation of the service logic because they need to understand service requirements ad customize their perceptual algorithm accordingly. context-modeling experts can represent situation models as graphs of situation states, which specify possible transitions. CHILix constitutes a bridge for distributed and functionally diverse components based on XML-over-TCP communication. SitCom allows application and service developers to dynamically exchange perceptual components stemming from different technology providers.
