摘要
Kaluza's original formalism allows to extract the basic laws of electrodynamics from a geometrical point of view within a general relativistic framework in five dimensions where electric charges and electromagnetic potentials generate curvature in a similar way as mass does in the gravitational counterpart. These ideas were incorporated for the first time in irreversible thermodynamics over a decade ago by two of us and some preliminary results where obtained and discussed. In this work we revisit the formalism, incorporating advances from the field of relativistic hydrodynamics and take it a step further by analyzing the implications of the electric current as a component of the stress-energy tensor. Some conclusions and future work are finally included.
