摘要
The image, video, audio, etc. have become the main media of communication for today's society including teaching with the rapid development of modern technology and the advent of the information age; therefore, multimodal teaching discourse has become a key research field. This paper mainly analyzed the implications of multimodal symbols and critical thinking skills, aiming to improve college students' critical thinking skills by constructing new English teaching mode-multimodal English teaching mode. The research is an empirical study in which the qualitative (questionnaires and interviews) and quantitative (experiment-writing test) methods are adopted. The results show that the multimodal English teaching mode based on network is beneficial to the improvement of students' critical thinking skills. Students' cognitive skills and affective dispositions of critical thinking improve a lot. This research will provide a new perspective for college English teaching and the improvement of students' critical thinking in the future.
