摘要
Miniature pigs (minipigs) are becoming more and more frequent clients in pet clinics. Multiple consultations show that minipigs are relatively rare patients in pet clinics. The study gives a rough overview of some important physiological parameters of this pig breed as well as tips on husbandry and feeding. Moreover, recommendations are given regarding the correct taking of blood samples, the frequently employed injections, vaccinations and in accordance with pharmaceutical law approved and practised narcotic procedures in the practice. Of the many possible illnesses those which can be of great importance either from the point of view of epidemic hygiene, such as European Classical Swine Fever or foot and mouth disease, which can play a role as a zoonosis or are in our experience repeatedly present as a health problem in minipig husbandry, will be exemplarily specified in brief.
