摘要
By taking the perspectives of text typology and the German functionalist approach, this paper makes an in-depth study on the features, functions and purpose of tourist texts in search of an applicable translation strategy. The functions of C-E translated tourist texts determine that tourist-text translation is far more than a linguistic transfer, but a comprehensive cross-cultural communicative action characterized by a combination of features of literary translation and pragmatic translation. Therefore, the translation of this text type should be guided by translation strategies different from those of other types of translation. Based on the specific features and functions of tourist-text translation, this paper proposes a two-fold strategy for translation, i.e. tourist-text translation should be target-language oriented and source-culture oriented, and further expounds it in depth on both the theoretical and the practical levels.
