摘要
This conceptual paper is focusing on emotional intelligence, commitment and the relationship between both variables with employee intention to stay amongst organizational members. The paper will concentrate on the relevant literatures and issues pertaining to the current situation in Malaysia, focusing on the Private Higher Education Institutions. According to Rozhan (2005), the ability for individual employees to manage problematic situations in organizations are amongst the factors to measure employee ability to work in an effective manner. When employees are able to take control of situations, this will enhance the organizational effectiveness and productivity. Emotional intelligence will help individuals to have the ability to manage problems and situations in any organizational settings (Sandat et al. 2011). Individual employees with emotional intelligence have the ability to focus at work, even though there are obstacles and barriers for success. This will then improve the commitment of individual employees towards work and help them stay in the organization (Rusinah, 2005).
