A compact 6 to 18 GHz power amplifier module with 10W output power

摘要
A state of art 6 to 18GHz power amplifier module, combining two custom designed MMIC power amplifiers, has been fabricated and tested. Measured results show that the module is capable of delivering an output power of 10W with greater than or equal to 15dB gain. A second iteration power amplifier MMIC design is also described with improved output power capability. By power combining 4 of these amplifiers a module output power in excess of 25W is expected, thus making Travelling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA.) replacement a real possibility.
