摘要
This paper aims mainly to show the result of the application of complex systems approach to the industrial engineer curriculum in Mexico. The presentation and argument consist of five sections: First a description of the background and trends of industrial engineering in Mexico, which will highlight the importance of higher education in the industrial engineer. Secondly, a presentation of the career's conceptualization, and the minimum contents which a professional in this discipline must have according to the Engineering Teaching Accreditation Council and the National Center for Higher Education Assessment. Thirdly, there is a brief explanation of complex thinking and the complex systems approach, as well as the methodology used. In a fourth chapter, a proposal on the systemic model of industrial engineering curriculum, showing and explaining their main subsystems and relationships. Finally, a highlight of the impact that a systemic model of industrial engineering may have on the curricula design, as well as study plans in universities worldwide.
