An investigation into the measurement of solids concentration in a fluidized bed was conducted Measurements were taken using both a tomographic technique and a pressure difference method The concentration measured using the pressure difference method showed reasonable agreement with the tomographic technique, with differences below about 8.5%, well in the bubbling regime. The differences increased as the fluidization became increasingly turbulent. Reasons for these differences are suggested.
