摘要
This work is on the optimization of energy management in a process industry using Port Harcourt Refining Company, PHRC, and Nigeria as a case study. Every industry requires efficient energy management to perform optimally. PHRC has sufficient energy supply but is facing the challenge of high energy consumptions resulting in high production costs. Specifying the impact factor of composite variables in a production process is important for efficient energy management. Mathematical models for predicting the yearly energy consumption of the company was developed using multiple regression and validated. The model in conjunction with Cumulative Sum, CUSUM analysis was used to specify the contributions of each petroleum product to the energy consumption of the company. Coke (petroleum product) had the highest contribution notwithstanding the fact that its energy consumption was the least in the company's data. Therefore to optimize energy management and reduce utility bill, its production should be reduced.
