The effect of time on the selective dissolution of binary eutectic alloys

Curves ''current vs. time'' of dissolution of the less noble component in hypoeutectic and eutectic alloys were analyzed taking into account the change of the controlling step with time. Equations for calculation of the transition time were derived. Non-uniform two-parameter functions are given to describe the kinetic parameters of reactions as functions of the potential and content of the less noble component. The relationships were confirmed by an example of dissolution in cadmium-bismuth alloys in chloride containing media.
