摘要
Effects of historical events on the preception of and in border regions and cross-border co-operation - Examples from Austrian-Slovenian and Czech-Polish border regions The perception of borders and border areas as well as cross-border activities is still influenced by historical events, processes and conflicts. This is also true for the Austrian-Slovenian and the Czech-Polish border areas which are characterised by various natural, cultural, economic and political factors and embedded in different historical and regional contexts. An outline of the history of the two border areas focuses especially on those events and processes which have influenced border politics or the relations between the two states, revealing different positions and conceptions of history, at least to a certain extent. Examples show how different historical commonalities and tensions as well as processes of alienation and convergence impact on cross-border interactions and identification processes.
