Isolation of tumor cells from peripheral blood - comparison of PCR and immunochemistry

摘要
Detection of tumor cells is discussed as a prognostic marker in malignant disease. Two different methods for detection of tumor cells from peripheral venous blood were compared using the polymerase-chain-reaction and immunochemistry. With both methods tumor cells can be detected in concentrations up to 10 cells/five mi of blood. Combination of both methods facilitates high sensitivity and visual proof of tumor cells in vitro. Attempt, method and benefit of this approach must be proofed concerning a definite clinical use.
