摘要
The possibility of using high frequency elastic waves to deal with an unwanted accretion is a particular interest of this work. We treat the influence of high frequency waves on the integrity of a plate-like layered structure in a general sense, being focused on establishing the range of applicability of the described wave-based method. The basic concept of breaking the bond with the stress field generated by a propagating wave is explored in a feasibility study. Numerical calculations are performed using an implemented wave model based on the Global Matrix Method and reciprocity principle, which enables insight into the physical nature of waves to be retained. Different wave modes' capability of inducing debonding between the host structure and the accreted layer is inferred from the comparison of the interface shear stress computed for various build-ups. The advantages and limitations of the method are determined by specifying the configurations and accreted layer properties for which the method may be effective and estimating input power requirements.
