A compact architecture for pulse-coupled neuron circuit is demonstrated by fabrication and characterization of an analog CMOS circuit, in which a multipath-switching device is integrated with a feedback loop of the CMOS inverter chain The synaptic weights are obtained by the combination of different channel width of multipath-switching device using temporal codes of pulse-width modulation. Experimental results show that the output pulse stream of neuron circuit carries the weight information on the pulse frequency.
