摘要：
Children aged 12 and above show self-injurious behavior (e. g. cutting and carving) fairly frequently. Emotional disturbances and massive social stress can often be the cause whereas very different motives for self-injurious behavior are provided. Although numerous studies and reviews on the subject are avaibable there are still discrepancies regarding definition and diagnostic classification. Due to the high prevalence rates in adolescents, school-based prevention approaches are increasingly in focus.
