摘要
This research work is intended towards IoT automation with the help of Raspberry Pi and Arduino. In this paper authors have chosen the two open source software named Home Assistant and OpenHAB and compare the performance and efficiency of both automation options. The proposed system will enable us to control different devices remotely via a web interface of this software, accessed over the internet. In addition to remote control, various sensors have been used to automate the working of different appliances with the help of self-made rules like presence and temperature detection etc. The proposed system uses MQTT, a machine to machine connectivity protocol, works on the basis of publish and subscribe processes running on a Raspberry Pi machine and Arduino. The server machine will receive commands to control different aspects of the devices and publishes it under some self-defined topic. The controller devices which have subscribed to that topic will receive the command an act accordingly. After using this system, authors have found that the proposed system will be helpful especially for periodic tasks and event based tasks, which further reduce human intervention and the chances of missing. It is also beneficial for handicapped peoples to operate devices remotely and as per their convenience. Authors have performed different experimentation on these connectivity protocols and measure the performance efficiency of both the software. Authors also have defined rules for automation purpose. The experimental results shown significant improvements compared to existing literature work.
