Evaporation cooling has been discussed as a means for air-conditioning in low consumption and electric motor vehicles. Experimental investigations are carried out concerning the heat transfer and especially the mass transfer for evaporation of water from various evaporation surfaces. The basic test section consists of an industrial prototype evaporator with fine longitudinal re-entrant grooves. First results show a good heat transfer from the evaporation surface to the air flow above the surface.
