摘要
Ecology encompasses a variety of topics including the water bodies, earth, the atmosphere, animals, plants and the relationship amongst living and non-living things. Technology incorporates innovations or creations that enhance production with the purpose. of rapid economic growth. Combining these two concepts would emphasize the use of natural technology in protecting and maintaining the equilibrium of the environment. Islam and ecology cannot be separated as both are closely linked to one another. Islam has enough support for ecology, based on Quran and Hadith. The objective of this paper is to integrate ecology and technology aspects as portrayed in the teaching of Islam as a means of living in harmony with nature. In this paper, the review focuses on water resources, natural water treatment, hima conservation and biomimicry concept in Islam. The study was conducted based on available published articles from books, journals and on-line articles related to environment and sustainability. This paper discusses the positive aspects of ecological technology, giving a special focus on Islamic values as a potential solution towards existing and future environmental-related problems. This paper hopes to instil the awareness that despite the innovative effort to fulfil human needs, a guideline based on the creations of our God Almighty should be incorporated in promoting environmental sustainability.
